The formula
- Late fee = max($50, 2% of sale price)
- Renege fee = max($1,000, 15% of sale price)
- Cancellation fee = renege fee + daily storage
- Storage = days past the free window x daily rate
Worked example
- $2,000 car paid late: max($50, $40) = $50.
- $10,000 car paid late: max($50, $200) = $200.
- $5,000 car unpaid after 7 days: max($1,000, $750) = $1,000.
- $10,000 car unpaid after 7 days: max($1,000, $1,500) = $1,500.

FAQ
What is the IAAI late payment fee?
IAA's Auction Rules set a late fee of $50 or 2% of the selling price, whichever is greater. On a $2,000 car that is $50. On a $10,000 car it is $200. Payment is due within three business days: the auction day plus two business days.
What is the IAAI renege fee?
If payment is not made within seven calendar days of award, the fee is $1,000 or 15% of the sale price, whichever is greater. On a $5,000 car that is $1,000. On a $10,000 car it is $1,500.
How much is IAAI storage per day?
IAA does not publish a daily rate. Its fee page says to check with your local branch. Enter the rate your branch quotes. We default to $30/day, the figure CarFlipIQ's IAAI calculator uses.
What happens if I pay but do not pick the car up?
If a paid vehicle is not picked up within 30 calendar days, IAA's rules add a cancellation fee equal to the renege fee plus its reasonable and customary daily storage fee. The calculator counts the renege-sized part here and the storage in the storage line.
What is the IAAI service fee?
IAA's fee page lists a service fee of $105 per unit for handling, and a title-handling fee of $20 per purchase. Both apply to every purchase, late or not.
