Simulcast is Manheim's online broadcast of the live lane, OVE is its online marketplace, and both count as online purchases with a 10-calendar-day arbitration window; in-lane buys do not. The channel decides your fees, your protection and how long you have to complain.

What is Manheim Simulcast?
Manheim's Simulcast help page says Simulcast lets buyers and sellers take part in an auction online. "Virtual buyers" join the lanes from their dealership, and sellers can represent vehicles remotely.
Requirements and mechanics from that page:
- You must be "a registered dealer with a Manheim username and password."
- Your account needs a valid email address, which proxy bidding requires.
- Proxy bids go in multiples of $50, require you to pick the dealership you bid for, and can be edited or deleted until the vehicle reaches the block.
- If Manheim receives updated condition information while the car is on the block, it cancels all proxy bids.
- Slow connections can make bids arrive after the sale, so bid early.
Closed sales are limited. Per Manheim's Simulcast Buyer's Guide, you must be registered with Auction Access to bid, and registered for specific auctions on Manheim.com.
What is the difference between Simulcast, OVE and in-lane?
Manheim's pages do not define OVE or in-lane side by side, so here is what each page states and nothing more:
| Simulcast Live / Timed / OVE (online) | In-lane | |
|---|---|---|
| Arbitration filing | 10 calendar days from sale date | Close of business on sale day |
| Vehicle return for arbitration | No same-day return deadline stated on the page | Selling auction by close of gate hours on sale day |
| Ready+2 transport extension | Eligible on digital channels (not OVE.com units from independent auction partners) | Not eligible |
| Digital Buyer Protection | Covers Simulcast Live, Timed and Manheim-facilitated OVE.com with an inspection report | Not listed |
Sources: arbitration timelines, Ready+2 and Digital Buyer Protection. On the Manheim new dealer buyer FAQ, "Vehicles on OVE are listed vehicles ready to be bid or bought now."
More detail: Manheim arbitration deadlines, Manheim Digital Buyer Protection and Manheim transport.
Do Simulcast purchases cost more?
They carry an extra line. Manheim says "a small buyer's fee applies to each vehicle you purchase on Simulcast," in addition to "the normal buyer's fee charged by each Manheim auction." The mobile answer on that page states a standard $50 Simulcast buyer fee. Full breakdown: Manheim buyer fees.
Manheim publishes no national buyer's fee table, so any all-in comparison between channels needs your own invoices. Pull the last five and compare buy fee plus Simulcast fee against sale price, channel by channel.
Which channel should a small dealer use?
That depends on your process, not on a rule we can give you. Questions worth answering from your own history:
- How often do you inspect in person before bidding? In-lane gives you the car in front of you, and the shortest arbitration window.
- How many cars have you bought on condition report alone? Online gives 10 days, and the protection programs apply to digital channels.
- What is your transport plan? A slow truck can use up the 10 days unless you qualify for Ready+2.
Our guide to reading a Manheim condition report covers the information you rely on for online buys.
What do you do about the missing fee table?
Treat the buyer's fee as a per-auction number you collect, not a national number. Put it in a spreadsheet next to sale price and channel, then run the max bid calculator backward from the resale price.
The free CarFlipIQ Chrome extension shows local resale, days to sell and a max bid after fees on Copart and IAAI lot pages. New accounts start with a 7-day free trial (card required, $0 today). Its manifest also lists manheim.com, so it loads on Manheim search and detail pages too. Manheim publishes no buyer fee table, so net your own rate-sheet fee out of any max bid by hand.
